2. 24. 2010 // Queen inaugurates youth development programme
Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan attended the launch of the Youth: Work Jordan (YWJ) program, an initiative to support the long-term development of young Jordanians. EFE’s Jordanian affiliate foundation, the Jordanian Career Education Foundation (JCEF) is a key partner in this new program. 9. 9. 2009 // EFE-Egypt signs MOU with TVET Reform Initiative
On Wednesday, September 9, 2009 Shahinaz Ahmed, EFE-Egypt CEO and Mohamed Ahmed Halal, Technical and Vocational Educational and Training Reform (TVET) Project Manager, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will allow EFE-Egypt to work with TVET’s Enterprise Training Partnerships (ETPs).
8. 29. 2009 // JCEF honors 60 graduates at Ramadan Iftar Ceremony
On Saturday, 29th August 2009, JCEF commemorated 60 trainees' successful completion of three training and job-placement programs at an Iftar graduation ceremony. Graduates were placed in guaranteed jobs in the areas of land surveying and hospitality.
6. 12. 2009 // EFE and UN Alliance of Civilizations Co-host UN session
The Education For Employment Foundation and the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) co-hosted a session at U.N. headquarters on June 12th on strategies to tackle high youth unemployment in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
At the session, entitled “Building Meaningful Partnerships for Youth Employment in the Middle East/North Africa,” the two organizations called for urgent action to address youth joblessness in the MENA region, which – at more than 25 percent -- is the highest in the world.
6. 7. 2009 // EFE Joins Forces with Silatech
The Education For Employment Foundation is joining forces with Silatech to promote youth employment in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and to launch large-scale youth employment initiatives in the region.
A first joint pilot project will begin this year to train 1,000 Moroccan youth for ICT jobs over the next 18 months. EFE’s Moroccan affiliate, EFE-Maroc, will act as Silatech’s implementing partner, according to the agreement, which was signed on June 7th in Qatar.
5. 30. 2009 // New Egypt and Morocco Programs Launched
In response to textile industry demand, EFE has launched its first training program in Egypt, the Merchandiser Training Program (MTP), to prepare unemployed youth for work in Egypt’s textiles industry. In Morocco, EFE-Maroc has launched its Sales Training and Job-Placement program to transform unemployed college-educated youth into qualified salespeople for Morocco's expanding markets.
5. 6. 2009 // EFE Speaks at Council on Foundations
Ron Bruder, EFE’s Founder & CEO, participated in the Council on Foundation’s 60th Annual Conference on May 6th. This was the largest gathering of foundations in the United States this year, with over 1,100 foundations in attendance. Mr. Bruder was joined by representatives of the American Task Force on Palestine and the U.S. Department of Treasury on a panel about philanthropy in the diverse Arab world and models for channeling giving to the region.
May 2009 // EFE Cited in Brookings Report
EFE’s work is featured in a new report that warns of a potential jobs crisis in the Middle East that will damage future prospects for young people in the region. Entitled “Missed by the Boom, Hurt by the Bust: Making Markets Work for Young People in the Middle East”, the report by the Wolfensohn Center for Development at the Brookings Institution and the Dubai School of Government is the first of its kind to assess the early risks faced by young people in the Middle East during the global economic downturn.
December 2008 // EFE Receives Drosos Grant
The Education For Employment Foundation has received a $1.65 million grant from the Drosos Foundation to expand its work improving the futures of young Palestinians.
Over three years, EFE will train 450 disadvantaged, unemployed West Bank youth with cutting-edge business, communications and English-language skills. Successful graduates will be placed with employers who have previously committed jobs and will be supported by a network of EFE alumni and local business leaders as their mentors.
11. 17. 2008 // EFE Maroc to Launch Sales Program in February
In February, EFE Maroc will launch its second training program to increase the skills and opportunities of talented young Moroccans. The Sales Training and Job-Placement Program will transform motivated, college-educated youth who have been unable to find jobs into qualified salespeople for Morocco’s expanding markets. Successful graduates will work as salespeople in the automobile, banking and mass distribution industries.

The Education For Employment Foundation (EFE) participated in two key sessions of this fall’s World Bank/International Monetary Fund (IMF) annual meetings, presenting its mission of youth employment at the Civil Society Policy Forum. Hosted at the World Bank from Oct 9-13, the Forum brought together Bank and IMF staff, representatives from civil society organizations, government officials, and policy experts from around the world.

The U.S. Department of State’s Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) has awarded a Cooperative Agreement of $1.5 million to the Education For Employment Foundation (EFE) to expand EFE’s unique public-private partnership model for youth employment and education reform in the Middle East and North Africa.
